Columns and rows are labeled numerically in Excel

To change this behavior, follow these steps:

  1. Start Microsoft Excel.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Under Settings, click to clear the R1C1 reference style check box (upper-left corner), and then click OK.

If you select the R1C1 reference style check box, Excel changes the reference style of both row and column headings, and cell references from the A1 style to the R1C1 style.

Flash Drive Error - “The disk in the destination drive is full”

Most flash drives are formatted FAT32 and the maximum size of any file under FAT32 is 4Gb. Therefore as far as Windows is concerned, the drive is full because it won’t talk to anything bigger than a 4Gb file.

Cannot start Outlook MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or wrong version.

After uninstalling a trial version of Microsoft Visio 2007 I received the following error after attempting open Outlook which I am using via an RPC over HTTP setup.

“Cannot start Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt of the wrong version.”

Vista is the OS on my laptop. Here’s how I fixed the problem after trying numerous things listed online.  I went to:

Programs Files –> Common Files –> System –> MSMAPI — 1033 and I deleted the following:

MAPI32.DLL and MSMAPI32.DLL

I then ran a repair on Microsoft Office 2003, rebooted and everything was back to normal!!!

Outlook Auto-complete Names File (*.nk2)

Important  You must exit Outlook before starting the following procedure. The names will be included in AutoComplete when you restart Outlook.

On the computer with the saved AutoComplete names, go to drive:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.Note  Depending on your file settings, this folder might be hidden. To view the files in this folder, do one of the following:ShowMicrosoft Windows XP

    1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab, and then, under Advanced settings, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

    ShowMicrosoft Windows 2000

    1. Double-click My Computer on your desktop.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab, and then click Show hidden files and folders.

  1. Right-click profile name.nk2, and then click Copy.Tip  You can copy the file to removable media, such as a floppy disk or a CD, and then copy the file to the correct location on the other computer. Or you can attach the file to an e-mail message and send the message to yourself. On the new computer, open the attachment in Outlook, and then save it to the correct location.
  2. On the computer where you want to populate the AutoComplete feature, copy the file to drive:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.
  3. If the Outlook user profile name is different on the computer where you are moving the .nk2 file, you must rename the file with the same Outlook user profile name after you copy it to the correct folder. For example, if you move Kim Akers.nk2 from the original computer with an Outlook user profile name of Kim Akers, and you copy the Kim Akers.nk2 file to the new computer, you must rename it with the Outlook profile name being used on the new computer.
  4. When prompted about replacing the existing file, click Yes.
  5. Open Outlook to view changes.

Installing Dell 1710n on a Network

Ran into a brief problem installing a Dell 1710n on a small network. I connected the printer to the router, accessed the webpage via the DCHP address, adn configured all the appropriate settings. I then downloaded the drivers from Dell. There were actually 2 packaged together in 1 zip file; a PS and HBP. I have no idea what the HBP driver was so I installed the Post Script drivers.

After creating a port and installing the drivers on Win2003 Server, I could not print. It wasn’t until I downloaded and ran the Dell Print Server Utility that detects the printer that I was able to print even though I could get to the printer by IP and the TCP/IP port was configured

Outlook blocking attachments

Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments.

I accessed another network via terminal services in an effort to grab the contacts and notes out of a Exchange mailbox. I created a new profile, setup the mailbox, created a new .pst, created new folders in the .pst for the contacts and notes, then copied them over from the mailbox to the new .pst. I then saved the .pst and e-mailed it to myself. When I opened Outlook on my home computer Outlook stated: “Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments.” Here is the link from Microsoft site that explains how to modify the registry to allow unsafe attachments in Outlook: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829982
